Scotland Trip Backdate
November & December 2016

Scotland Trip BackdateI finally felt that I could handle going through the images from my trip to Scotland back in early Novemeber (It seems more like a year ago than only 6 weeks). I took with me the 100-400 Mk2 and almost exclusively used this lens with the 1.4 extender on the 5D Mk3. The images looked not too bad in camera but in Lightroom I was a tad disappointed (should have taken the 500 F4) Saying that I think part of the problem was the poor light I was up against most days when I was out. Anyways, such as they are, here are some of the highlights ....... November & December 2016S'funny how sometimes life deals you a few curve balls. Back in early November my wife & I headed to to the UK to visit family and things were peachy. I spent the first week visiting relatives and birding along the shoreline near my home town. Near the end of that first week I started to get what I thought was the flu and spent less & less time out. To cut a bit of a long story short I made it to to my return flight, but on the flight betweeen Glasgow & Toronto and a couple hours from destination I became ill again. On landing (17th Nov) the paramedics were called and I ended up in hospital in Mississauaga with a serious heart infection. Between then and the beginning of Decemeber I ended up being in three differerent hospitals and in Saint Mary's in Kitchener they operated and replaced a couple of faulty heart valves. It's been a bit of a roller coaster over the last several weeks but on the 9th Decemeber I was finally discharged to complete my recovery at home. Unfortunately that recovery will be a couple of months or so and little or no birding or bird photography is likely to take place, especially now that the weather is snowy and bitter cold. Really too bad as there are some good birds being sighted around the area. One of these days I am hoping to feel well enough to go through the images from the UK and get them onto my blog ... so bear with me .... I'm coming back :)

Blog AuthorPretty much all my life I have had an interest in nature photography albeit in, off and on, phases of interest. Around 18 years ago, I found myself, again, getting that nature bug, and I am now, especially since I retired just over 8 years ago, very passionate about wildlife & wildlife photography. Archives
