January 27th 2017

 Location: Riverside Park, Cambridge
Weather: Cold with snow squalls (-1C)
Lately I have been traveling significant distances to find birds, but sometimes it pays to stick close to home. This morning, mainly because it was yucky weather, I headed out (I was bored at home), to Riverside - a local Hot Spot,  and was delighted to come across a Fox Sparrow, thanks to a friend (Dave), who initially spotted it.

January 19th - 26th

Starting to get out again, but the weather has not been very considerate - generally damp, misty and with very poor light. However, it's not something I have any control over, so it is what it is. Took a trip up into Mennonite country (great area for Raptors and Snowy Owls) earlier in the week but after driving along countless back roads over a period of 3 - 4 hours I was rewarded with zero owls and zero raptors ... one of those days !!
A couple of days ago, with my friend Steve, toured the a few of the Oakville to Hamilton "Hot Spots" Sedgewick, Bronte Harbour, La Salle, Woodside & Desjardins Canal with limited success but did see a Sharp-shinned Hawk that landed close to us and posed for 10mins or so
Today (26th) I had an appointment in Oakville so even though the weather was wet and cold I packed some camera equipment and after my appointment I dropped in on Sedgewick Forest and then La Salle Marina and came away with a couple of decent shots and sightings.

January 3rd - 10th 2017

Since my surgery I haven't been able to drive myself, so birding has been limited to locations that my wife feels comfortable driving to, so usually that means somewhere very local (usually Riverside Park in Cambridge) and in my back yard. Six weeks ago (just after my heart surgery) I was convinced that my days of lugging heavy photographic equipment around, and possibly all birding, was over, but now a few short weeks after I'm raring to go (although I will need to be careful for a month or two). I'm expecting to get my driving priveliges restored after my cardio check up on the 18th ... my fingers are crossed, so wish me luck.
Anyways, as I eluded to earlier, I have taken one or two shots which I have grouped together in the small gallery below.

Pretty much all my life I have had an interest in nature photography albeit in, off and on, phases of interest. Around 13/14 years ago, I found myself, again, getting that nature bug, and I am now, especially since I retired just over 6 years ago, very passionate about  wildlife & wildlife photography.

Enough about me ...             I hope that you enjoy my ramblings and the occasional  decent  image.
