August 31st 2024

LOCATION: North Dumfries gravel road
WEATHER: Another nice day
With non-birding plans quite early in the day I headed to my favorite local gravel road, and did some birding from the drivers seat of my car , At one spot I was fortunate to be at the right place at the right time as several songbirds made their way across my path,

August 27th & 28th 2024

LOCATION: Day1: Guelph Line area; Day2: Hamilton
WEATHER: Very pleasant - sun and cloud
Every day a few more songbirds working their way though this area !!

August 25th & 26th 2024

LOCATION: North Dumfries
WEATHER: Sunny and quite warm
Migration continues to expand, so it is really nice to see a few birds that I haven't seen since spring migration, and of course during some trips through the summer to locations up north.

August 20th & 23rd 2024

LOCATION: North Dumfries
WEATHER: Seasonal
With fall approaching I am starting to see some migration happening. I am not looking forward to the cooler weather, but I must admit I am looking forward to songbird migration... especially Warblers.

August 14th & 15th 2024

LOCATION:North Dumfries & Kitchener
WEATHER:  Sun & cloud
I was delighted to see a couple of female Baltimore Orioles feeding on our yard Trumpet Vines. Normally at this time of years its only the Ruby-throated Humming birds that indulge, but this year the Hummers have mostly been missing, so nice that Orioles took their place :)

August 9th 2024

LOCATION: North Dumfries
WEATHER: Seasonal
Spent a couple of hours along my favorite gravel road close to home with some OK sightings. Looking out for early migrants, but so far nothing showing up.

August 7th & 8th 2024

LOCATION: North Dumfries
WEATHER: Sun & cloud
I took a drive around some of the back roads I hadn't visited for a week or two, with not too much in the birding side showing, but I did spot a couple of interesting insects.

August 5th 2024

LOCATION: Woodstock
WEATHER: Sun & cloud, and warm
Along with a good photography friend, and butterfly enthusiast , Helen, we drove down to the Woodstock area, where a very interesting butterfly was showing ... the Bronze Copper - a species neither of us had photographed before. Helens excellent knowledge of this species - knowing the host plant etc, had us locating it within 10 minutes of our arrival, so the day started off superbly!!

Later on that morning we came across the Yellow Garden Spider, which was a female, since it was so large - the insect was around an inch and a half (1.5") from tip to tip so it was quite a monster.

August 1st & 3rd 2024

LOCATION: Day1-Tobermory + Day2-Kitchener
WEATHER: Sunny & hot

A New month and hopefully a few new and decent images to look forward to, Day 1 I woke up, essentially in the middle of the night, unable to sleep, so I thought getup and do a road trip up north somewhere, I decided. literally as I left the house, that Tobermory seems  like a decent idea.

As it turned out it was a bad idea as I literally photographed nothing (except the Egret). I did see a few Warblers .. Black & White, Black-throated Green and a couple of Golden-winged, but glimpses only. Oh well we have good days and we have bad days I suppose!!

Day 2 was a little better, and within a few miles of home too

Pretty much all my life I have had an interest in nature photography albeit in, off and on, phases of interest. Around 18 years ago, I found myself, again, getting that nature bug, and I am now, especially since I retired just over 8 years ago, very passionate about  wildlife & wildlife photography.

Enough about me ...             I hope that you enjoy my ramblings and the occasional  decent  image.
